I had to apply half at a time, rub in really well, then apply the second half to get the appropriate amount. I am light skinned as it is, so to have white cast is significant. White cast it took me a while to figure out how best to apply this. I am not an all day sunscreen wearer because I don't see the sun for most of the day, so this I put on in the afternoon and re-apply as needed. Okay, so I have been using Eucerin advanced hydration sunscreen lotion (50 spf, there is also a 30 or 35) for a little over a week. For a while Neutragena clear face worked well for me, but over time I just hated how it made my skin feel once it was removed. I usually just end up using whatever I have for my body just to use something. So I am forever in search of a sunscreen specifically for my face that I don't hate. Americas fashion industry was given a boost of confidence on inauguration day as President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and First Lady Jill Biden attended the days events wearing. Keep watch and in the meantime, if you're inspired by Harris' outfit choices, order her exact socks, below. There's already a host of websites dedicated to dissecting the VP-elect's wardrobe and one has to wait and see if Harris will want to make a distinct mark in the political fashion space as ladies like Michelle Obama has done. With Inauguration Day less than a week away, Harris' public appearances will be tracked by her legion of followers everywhere. Read into these statistics what you will, but Harris' socks will remind everyone to keep positive and have hope that there will be more women in power, across all industries, in the future. The 2020 election cycle revealed that more women were elected to Congress than ever before - at least 129 women will join the United States House of Representatives and the Senate this year, breaking a 2017 record when 127 women served in Congress - and more women of color were also elected into Congress - that number is estimated to be at least 51. Instead, Harris wore a dusty pink blazer with matching trousers and on her feet were teal colored socks that, given the times, appropriately read "The Future Is Female." One only needs to recall the fact that Harris is not only the first woman to be a VP-elect, but also the first Black woman, and first South Asian woman, to be VP-elect as a reminder why "the future is female," mantra rings hopeful to onlookers everywhere. President-elect Joe Biden has already promised to bring America back into the Paris Climate Accord, so Harris could wear an outfit which is vintage, or from a brand with eco-credentials, in a nod to that policy.ĭeciding which values she might like to project at the 2021 inauguration events will have taken careful planning and consideration - an outfit for an occasion like this is never just an outfit.Even though Harris was at home, the politician did not resort to loungewear like most people would. Harris could also nod to her heritage - she is the first African American and first Asian American vice president, and may opt to magnify the importance of this by wearing a designer with a personal story that is similar to hers. Perhaps she will go for gold on inauguration day? Or choose to support a successful female designer? Of the three colours associated with women’s suffrage, Harris has not yet worn gold, symbolising hope, as part of her campaigning but has worn white, (purity) and purple (loyalty). It is likely that she might make another visual, sartorial reference to the women’s suffrage movement, hammering home the historical importance of her appointment. Read more: How to watch Inauguration Day live in the UK Harris has already made it abundantly clear that she intends to use her wardrobe to make statements on the world stage - the ‘suffragette white’ Carolina Herrera trouser suit which she wore to give her 7th November victory speech was symbolic, as were the universally democratic Converse trainers, Timberland boots and Nike sportswear items she wore on the campaign trail. It’s an exciting moment for so many political and feminist reasons, but in the eyes of the world’s fashion pundits, it also represents a unique chance for Harris to shake up the narrative and move traditions forward. On Wednesday 20th January, whatever Dr Jill Biden wears will go on display at Washington’s National Museum of American History, alongside the dresses worn by Jacqueline Kennedy, Laura Bush and the many others before her.īut what about Kamala Harris? For the first time in history, 2021 will see the inauguration of a female vice president. That way the output from one LUT can feed into the input of another LUT without having to travel far. The switch matrix can connect the inputs and outputs of the CLB to the general routing matrix or to each other. Each CLB connects to a switch matrix that is responsible for connecting the CLB to the rest of the FPGA. The next size block in the FPGA is the Complex Logic Block ( CLB) and each CLB consists of two slices. The break down of the slices is roughly SLICEX 50%, SLICEL 25% and SLICEM 25%. A SLICEM is the same as a SLICEL except the LUTs can be used as 64bits of RAM or a shift register up to 32bits long. These help speed up circuits like addition and multiplication. A SLICEL is the same as a SLICEX except it contains extra hardware for a ripple-carry chain used in arithmetic circuits. The SLICEX is the most basic type of slice and just consists of the four LUT6's and the eight flip-flops. In the Mojo's FPGA there are three types of slices, SLICEX, SLICEL, and SLICEM. The FPGA used by the Mojo has 1,430 slices in it for a total of 5,720 LUTs!Īll slices are not created equal, however. Some of the flip-flops can actually be configured as latches instead of flip-flops, although latches typically aren't good practice to use as they can lead to timing problems. These flip-flops are typically configurable allowing the type of reset (asynchronous vs synchronous) and the reset level (high vs low) to be specified. In the Spartan 6 used by the Mojo, a slice has 4 LUT6 and 8 flip-flops. Groups of LUTs and flip-flops are called slices. Flip-flops and SlicesĮach LUT's output can be optionally connected to a flip-flop. When it is configured as two 5-input LUTs, In is set to 0. The only restriction is that both 5-input LUTs must share the same inputs. The reason the LUT is designed this way is because it can either be used as a single 6-input LUT, or two 5-input LUTs. The output of the LUT is whatever value is in the indexed location in it's RAM.Īs an example let's look at a 2-input LUT. What makes a LUT powerful is that you can program what the output should be for every single possible input.Ī LUT consists of a block of RAM that is indexed by the LUT's inputs. A LUT consists of some number of inputs and one output. Look-up tables are how your logic actually gets implemented. An FPGA has three main elements, Look- Up Tables ( LUT), flip-flops, and the routing matrix, that all work together to create a very flexible device. While this is a good way to explain it to someone with little prior knowledge on digital design, it's not actually how it works. When explaining what an FPGA is to someone, I commonly tell them that there are basically a bunch of logic gates in the FPGA that can be connected however you want to create your circuit. This tutorial will cover how an FPGA can implement so many different logic circuits simply by being reprogrammed. Odersky, M., et al.: An overview of the scala programming language. This can lead to a system-wide stall, where no process can make progress. A deadlock occurs when two or more processes are blocked, waiting for each other to release the resources they need. By the way: the JVM has deadlock detection, but its not automatic its triggered by thread stack dumps. Especially as the detection still doesnt solve the problem. Killing all process will lead to inefficiency in the system because all the processes will execute again from starting.Atkey, R., Sannella, D.: ThreadSafe: static analysis for Java concurrency. Deadlock detection and recovery is the process of detecting and resolving deadlocks in an operating system. So the best advice is: clean up your code instead of asking for automatic solutions. This is not a suggestible approach but can be implemented if the problem becomes very serious. Generally, Operating system kills a process which has done least amount of work until now. Killing a process can solve our problem but the bigger concern is to decide which process to kill. This is a collection of main algorithms from the operating system concepts book. The moment, we get into deadlock, we will rollback all the allocations to get into the previous safe state. vijayakumar-bhaskar / operating-system-concepts-algorithms. In an operating system, a deadlock is a situation which occurs when a process or thread enters a waiting state because a resource requested is being held by another waiting process, which in turn is waiting for another resource. For this purpose, OS needs to implement check pointing at every state. The operating system canrollback the system to the previous safe state. System passes through various states to get into the deadlock state. Well, choosing a resource which will be snatched is going to be a bit difficult. We can snatch one of the resources from the owner of the resource (process) and give it to the other process with the expectation that it will complete the execution and will release this resource sooner. In order to recover the system from deadlocks, either OS considers resources or processes. We have to apply the safety algorithm on the system by converting the resource allocation graph into the allocation matrix and request matrix. On the other hand, in multiple instanced resource type graph, detecting a cycle is not just enough. In single instanced resource types, if a cycle is being formed in the system then there will definitely be a deadlock. The OS can detect the deadlocks with the help of Resource allocation graph. The main task of the OS is detecting the deadlocks. In case, it finds any of the deadlock then the OS will recover the system using some recovery techniques. In order to get rid of deadlocks, The OS periodically checks the system for any deadlock. Settings Custom Detectors.Simply specify there locations of any additional plugin libraries. Therefore the system considers that the deadlock will definitely occur. Existing standard FindBugs detector packages can be configured via Window Preferences Java FindBugs Misc. In this approach, The OS doesn't apply any mechanism to avoid or prevent the deadlocks. Next → ← prev Deadlock Detection and Recovery I don’t think the quality of my work would be what it is now if it wasn’t for the program it was so easy to try new things in such a user-friendly way. All my assignments involving digital art were done in CSP throughout my 4 years of school. More recently for my senior thesis, I’m 2D animating and making storyboards! CSP is a lot more friendly for my workflow and has everything I need right in the program. Throughout school, I’m constantly having to do matte paintings for my VFX shots or making assets. How has CSP helped you throughout school? The tools are so easy to catch on to and it’s so versatile. I felt like my work dramatically improved because I finally found the shoe that fit for me as an artist. I create in CSP because it felt so natural right off the bat. On top of that, these paintings allowed me to explore a wide range of colors, as well as optimize the default assets Clip Studio Paint has to offer (such as the "CAUTION" tape around Junko's wrists, texture materials and 3D Model). It is a real joy when other fans of the series discover the story elements I hid within the art. The compositions were very challenging as they had to read clearly and stay true to the stories, but they were incredibly fun. These three pieces are fan art of one of my favorite video game series, Danganronpa. What are your favorite pieces created with Wacom in CSP and why? The Help - Tips and Tutorials in CSP also has a ton of great information and written step-by-steps. Once you get accustomed to how the brushes feel on your display, there are many useful webinars and tutorials on YouTube that will walk you through individual functions available in CSP. Every new medium has a learning curve, so patience is important. There is no hurry in learning every feature when you first start! Digital art can be very daunting to a beginner, but just know where to select brushes, pencils and pens and start drawing. What advice would you give to a new artist trying CSP? The ability to make my own references and set up lighting and perspective has saved me so much time from googling images or attempting to take pictures of myself from odd angles. The one that applies to all scenarios is the 3D Models. This is a hard question, I have too many to name. Everything from line art and painting to making my own references and assets is so much moreĪccessible and convenient in Clip Studio Paint. The number of features, which are designed to significantly speed up your workflow, really blew me away. The brush engine is far more intuitive compared to the other software I was using. Even after years of experience with it, I never felt comfortable until I switched to Clip Studio Paint. We also asked CSP veterans Sarajean Chung and Luciannys Camacho why Wacom and Clip Studio Paint are their tools of choice when it comes to painting.įavorite Wacom product: Cintiq Pro 24 with Ergo Flex ArmĬoming from a traditional art background, I always struggled with digital art. Artists who want a break from subscription models Artists in a time crunch – the biggest benefits of CSP are focused on reducing production time and making art creation more efficient Artists who want to streamline their creation process What kind of artist benefits from CSP the most? Thanks to a streamlined code, the application is stable and won’t crash Cloud services allow interoperability between your desktop, mobile and tablet versions We created the drawing engine to be among the most powerful on the market The drawing and painting engine is as intuitive as traditional media You can create almost any type of art, including comics, manga, anime, animation, illustration, painting and concept art The PRO version at $50 has more features when compared to the full version of Adobe Photoshop It’s inexpensive: there’s no subscription and the license is perpetual We asked Fahim Niaz, founder of Graphixly and official CSP partner, why CSP stands out among other digital painting software. For Wacom, this offer is a natural extension of a years’ long friendship with the Clip Studio Paint crew.īut what makes the new Wacom One and Clip Studio Paint a match made in heaven? To find out, we need to understand each of them individually. What's even sweeter is anyone who buys a Wacom One gets up to six months of Clip Studio Paint for free. Truth is, when you use a Wacom product to put pen to screen in Clip Studio Paint, there’s no denying the chemistry between us. Not only did we tour all of the cons with their team last year, we continue to do webinars together and serve the same creative audience. It’s no secret we have a huge crush on Wacom. Logical indexing is closely related to the find function. Or you could replace all the spaces in a string matrix str with underscores. To replace all NaN elements of the matrix B with zero, use B(isnan(B)) = 0 For example, you could replace all the NaN elements in an array with another value by using a combination of isnan, logical indexing, and scalar expansion. Many MATLAB functions that start with is return logical arrays and are very useful for logical indexing. For example, A(A > 12) extracts all the elements of A that are greater than 12. The output is always in the form of a column vector. MATLAB extracts the matrix elements corresponding to the nonzero values of the logical array. In logical indexing, you use a single, logical array for the matrix subscript. This form of indexed assignment is called scalar expansion.Īnother indexing variation, logical indexing, has proven to be both useful and expressive. You can always, however, use a scalar on the right side: v() = 30 % Replace second and third elements by 30 Usually the number of elements on the right must be the same as the number of elements referred to by the indexing expression on the left. V(end:-1:1) % Reverse the order of elementsīy using an indexing expression on the left side of the equal sign, you can replace certain elements of the vector: v() = % Replace some elements of v You can even do arithmetic using end: v(2:end-1) % Extract the second through the next-to-last elementsĬombine the colon operator and end to achieve a variety of effects, such as extracting every k-th element or flipping the entire vector: v(1:2:end) % Extract all the odd elements The end operator can be used in a range: v(5:end) % Extract the fifth through the last elements The special end operator is an easy shorthand way to refer to the last element of v: v(end) % Extract the last element Swap the two halves of v to make a new vector: v2 = v() % Extract and swap the halves of v The colon notation in MATLAB provides an easy way to extract a range of elements from v: v(3:7) % Extract the third through the seventh elements Or the subscript can itself be another vector: v() % Extract the first, fifth, and sixth elements The subscript can be a single value: v(3) % Extract the third element Let's start with the simple case of a vector and a single subscript. |
